What ScreenChat does

ScreenChat is a Chrome extension that lets you ask questions about the page you are on. For each request, ScreenChat sends your prompt, the current page URL, and an optional screenshot only if you enable Attach Screen. ScreenChat runs in the browser side panel and supports bring-your-own AI provider keys.

Information ScreenChat collects

  • The current page URL for the tab where you use ScreenChat.
  • An optional screenshot of the current page when you enable Attach Screen for a request.
  • Your chat prompts and request context sent to the AI provider you choose.
  • An optional profile name stored only in local browser extension storage when you choose to save one.
  • Your AI provider API key only in local extension storage on your device when you choose to save one for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, NVIDIA NIM, or OpenRouter.

How ScreenChat uses information

  • To answer the question you ask about the current page.
  • To keep provider keys, local settings, and an optional local profile name in your browser.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

How information is shared

ScreenChat shares request data only with the AI provider you choose for that request:

  • The AI provider you choose, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, NVIDIA NIM, or OpenRouter, receives the prompt and request context needed to answer you. That request may include the current page URL, an optional screenshot, and the provider API key used for the request.

ScreenChat does not sell user data. ScreenChat does not use user data for personalized advertising. ScreenChat does not transfer user data to data brokers, information resellers, or advertising platforms.

Storage and retention

  • ScreenChat does not store cloud account data or cloud conversation history in this release.
  • Optional screenshots are used for the request in which you attach them.
  • Saved AI provider keys stay in local browser extension storage on your device unless you replace them, clear extension storage, or remove the extension.

Your controls

  • You can turn Attach Screen on or off before sending a request.
  • You can edit or remove the local profile name from the Profile view inside the extension.
  • You can replace a saved provider key from the Profile view, or remove local provider keys by clearing ScreenChat extension storage or uninstalling the extension.
  • You can follow the Data Deletion page to clear local ScreenChat extension data.
