Privacy Policy

This page describes what ScreenChat collects, how it is used, and who it is shared with.

What ScreenChat does

ScreenChat is a Chrome extension that lets you ask questions about the page you are on. For each request, ScreenChat sends your prompt, the current page URL, and an optional screenshot only if you enable Attach Screen.

Information ScreenChat collects

  • Google account information used to sign in, including your name, email address, profile photo, and authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in.
  • The current page URL for the tab where you use ScreenChat.
  • An optional screenshot of the current page when you enable Attach Screen for a request.
  • Your chat prompts, assistant replies, and saved conversation history.
  • Profile information stored in ScreenChat, including full name, nickname, email, phone number, and notes if you choose to save them.

How ScreenChat uses information

  • To authenticate your account and keep you signed in.
  • To answer the question you ask about the current page.
  • To store conversation history and profile details that you choose to keep in ScreenChat.
  • To secure the service, investigate abuse, and maintain reliability.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

How information is shared

ScreenChat only shares information with service providers needed to operate the product:

  • Google Firebase, for authentication and stored account data.
  • The AI provider configured for the backend, which may be OpenAI or Replicate, to generate responses.
  • The hosting provider that runs the ScreenChat backend.

ScreenChat does not sell user data. ScreenChat does not use user data for personalized advertising. ScreenChat does not transfer user data to data brokers, information resellers, or advertising platforms.

Storage and retention

  • Saved conversation history stores the page URL associated with the conversation, your prompts, and assistant replies.
  • Optional screenshots are used to answer the request in which you attach them. They are not saved as part of ScreenChat conversation history.

Your controls

  • You can turn Attach Screen on or off before sending a request.
  • You can delete individual saved conversations or clear all saved conversation history from the History view inside the extension.
  • You can edit your saved ScreenChat profile from the Profile view inside the extension.
  • You can sign out of ScreenChat at any time.
  • You can request deletion of your stored ScreenChat data by following the instructions on the Data Deletion page.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use statement

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
